The Tuba/Euphonium Studio at Vanderbilt University is small but mighty. Tuba and euphonium students from the Blair School of Music have a long tradition of musical and scholastic excellence, as well as professional and personal success.

About the Tuba & Euphonium Studio

For the 2023-24 school year there are 5 tuba majors and 1 euphonium major. All students have a one-hour weekly lesson with Prof. Bethany Wiese and must also sign up for a weekly Low Brass Performance Class.

Our Blair low brass students participate in the Vanderbilt Symphony Orchestra and the Vanderbilt Wind Symphony every semester. Through these experiences, they perform some of the most important major works of the symphonic repertoire, but also perform and record some of the newest and most cutting-edge works for wind ensemble. Through our unique chamber ensemble program, our tuba and euphonium players hone their all-important chamber skills in brass quintets or other small ensembles that are coached weekly by faculty mentors.

Our students regularly attend national and international workshops, competitions, and symposia each year and attend some of the most prestigious Summer festivals. Our students have been winners and finalists in the Falcone Competition as well as several different ITEC competitions.
